The Public Works department would like to encourage you to take advantage of our local recycling program.
Recyclable Items
- Newspapers and Magazines: Please remove the newspaper from plastic bags before placing them into the recycle bin.
- Cardboard: Please break all cardboard down flat so more will fit into the recycle bin.
- Aluminum
- Tin
- Plastic: Oil jugs are not accepted in the plastic recycle bin.
Please Remember
Placing items into the recycling bins that are NOT RECYCLABLE can cause the whole bin to be emptied into the Landfill. If you have an item you are not sure about please ask someone before placing it into the recycling bin.

Grayson County operates a recycling center in the lower parking lot of the Grayson County Courthouse on Davis Street in Independence, Virginia on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
